Empowering family and private business to unlock their full potential

A community of family businesses learning from one another—because family businesses are unique.Education, peer support, and perspective for success across generations.

A Brief History of the Alliance

Empowering family and private business to unlock their full potential.

The Family Business Alliance began in 1997 as the Family Business Forum at the William G. McGowan School of Business at King’s College. What started with a small group of advisors quickly grew as more family businesses joined from across a wide range of industries.

In 2012, the Forum moved to Wilkes University and became the Family Business Alliance. Today, the Alliance continues to grow regionally, bringing together privately held and family-owned businesses.

While our reach has expanded, our mission remains the same: to educate, support, and connect the locally owned businesses that form the backbone of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s economy and community.

Our Sponsors

The Family Business Alliance depends greatly on the support of the corporate community and generous individuals. Sponsorship gifts enable the FBA to provide quality programming to members at a relatively low cost, making resources available to businesses of all size, age and industry.

Peer Groups

Peer Groups bring family and closely held business leaders together in a confidential, professionally facilitated setting to share challenges, gain perspective, and learn from one another. These small, trusted cohorts create real accountability, practical insight, and lasting relationships that strengthen both the business and the people leading it.
